Take Rt. 3 or other major highways to Cape Cod, cross the canal and continue east on Rt. 6 to the Orleans rotary.

Go around rotary staying on Rt. 6 north into Eastham. The first traffic light will be Eastham Center, with Town Hall on your right and windmill on left. Go through light and continue for about four-tenths of a mile, staying in right lane. Just before the next light, swing right, with the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitors' Center on your right.

You are now on Nauset Road. Nauset Road will soon take a sharp left, but you stay straight onto what is now Doane Road. Follow Doane Road for almost a mile to the edge of America, better known as Coast Guard Beach. Ignore the parking entrance and swing to the left, north, onto Ocean View Drive.

After about one mile, Ocean View Drive ends at a three-way stop, with Nauset Lighthouse straight ahead. Continue through this intersection and swing right but stay in the left lane. The right lane turns into the parking lot for Nauset Light Beach. You swing left, or north again, around the lighthouse. At the top of the rise you’ll have to turn left, onto Third Ave., a dirt road, with no street sign. Go just 50 feet or so and swing left again at the "Avery Kraemer" sign. You will see a gray shingled house with white trim and a triangular upstairs window. A key to the ocean-side door should have been left by previous occupants in one of the two locations revealed to you by phone or e-mail by Chuck Kraemer.

As the following map shows, there are two other traffic lights, farther north on Rt. 6, where you can turn east toward the ocean. So if you miss Nauset Road at the Visitors' Center, just continue to the next light, Bracket Road. Or, after that, Nauset Road again, the other end of it.
